When dryers fail to spin correctly, your laundry does not get dried. Even if heat is present, the spinning feature of a dryer helps universally dry the clothes while preventing the development of mold and mildew. That is why if a dryer is not spinning correctly, it is time to give our team at ATech Appliance a call.
Usually, if the dryers aren’t spinning, but it’s still powering on and even heating up, it’s because there is a problem with the belt. The belt within the dryer may have fallen off or snapped. Either way, the belt needs to be corrected (or replaced). Once the belt has been fixed, the dryer will work as good as new.
Idler Pulley Assembly
Connecting to the belt is the idler pulley assembly. This part helps provide the necessary tension on the belt. This way, the drum is able to handle the load of laundry you put into it. When the drum spins and “tumbles,” the idler pulley will rotate. This causes friction, which over time can eventually cause it to break apart and run into other problems. So, if the belt has fallen off or if it continually seems to run into problems, it likely is because there is an issue with the idler pulley assembly. Replacing this helps correct spinning issues.
