DISHWASHERS OFTEN NEED MORE MAINTENANCE THAN OTHER HOME APPLIANCES.
Dishwashers usually need more maintenance than other appliances. Some of the following tips can help you save money in the long run:
- Dishes should always be rinsed and rid of food prior to being placed in the dishwasher, as food particles can block the drain pipes and cause problems.
- Larger items should be scraped off and rinsed in the sink before being placed in the dishwasher. Objects such as seeds, toothpicks, and paper labels from containers should be kept away from your dishwasher.
- Use proper detergent for your dishwasher, preferably a type made for hot water cleaning. Doing so will result in a more thorough cleaning of your dishes. The water temperature should be set between 130 to 145 degrees.
- In addition, have your dishwasher cleaned using Lemi-Shine (dishwasher cleaner). Available at A-Tech Appliance Service.
Spots tend to form in the dishwasher’s rinsing cycle due to remaining droplets of water when most of the detergent is gone. Rinse agents help the water drip completely from the dishes during the drying cycle. No droplets means no leftover stains on your plates!
